Did you ever have to earn that kind of money yourself? I feel bad for you if your family doesn't give love and affection, but please realize that 40000 is seriously a lot of money.

My family doesn't have a lot of money, but Christmas for us is always a time when we (me, older brother and parents) gather to eat good food, hang out and play lots of board games together. Presents are lovely but the important for us is just to have fun and spend time with each other. I'm sorry that you don't have something like that, by the sound of it. I hope that will change. If nothing else, you can create your own traditions and love when you start to form your own family. Could you ask your parents to give you some gift instead of the money, that could be cheaper instead? Because well, 40k is A LOT to start with. Are your family super rich or how can they afford to give you that much money, if that's not too personal? I know that rich parents can sometimes neglect their children a bit, because they think money replaces love and time spent together. Which sucks

I know that felling. Same situation with my family. They can give me a Ferrari but only thing I like is they can come back home and get Christmas together instead always busy with work in other country over Christmas time. -sorry. My english not really good-

@steffitjeh I feel ya on that, money is the most impersonal gift you can get because it clearly shows a lack of thought and effort. I'd take a new pack of socks over money but then I also have a weird thing for socks lol. Hopefully you end up getting your hug
