get an apartment/house with indoor parking, get a car with working heat, then you don't have to spend much time outside. and then get a coat rated for -40 or the coldest it gets in whatever area you'll be, if you're coming in the next week or 2 it shouldn't be too bad

Which province you move in? Just buy cheap layer, polar fabric is a good one under a coat. But please, don’t buy a 800$ winter coat, its really not necessarily. When you are going outside in winter, just try to keep you dry, if you walk and you start to getting hot and sweaty, open your coat or something.... because when your wet and stop moving you will freeze as fuck. But really depends where you are moving too.
