thats why this kind of fuses are built with a free release (you can't block the fuse by that switch) otherwise many houses would burn down ...

Assuming its not just a faulty circuit breaker, id say theres an Earthing issue somewhere on that phase. and anytime they turned on something it would trip. but they found that if they held it on, they could keep using whatever it was... not a good solution in any form, as either they will get electricted if not careful... or the device will blow up.. its also recommended now days to have specially earth protection breakers so that silly things cant be done

Not a electrical engineer but i always look where the problem is before is reset the breaker. Last time our electrical engineer removed a flood light and forget to remove te wire he cut wich was in a hollow pipe that filled up with water, it took me 1/2 day to find the problem.

Actually, various thickness and types of bolts do have capacitor ratings and can be used as breakers. It depends on size, thickness and alloy makeup but it can be done. This is like using a cigarette pack foil for a 20 amp fuse in a car because that foil is rated for 21 amps and can stand in for a short period while waiting to get a new fuse.

@decezmeu did you just assume the amperage !... while overamping is the common reason - you also have - short circuits caused by earth and neutral touching (but that usually means somethings gonna blow or burn) - or a ground fault (which can occur if the ground earth wire is somehow connected to the main wire (accidently screwing or damage) - or the appliance is directly faulty... which can be a combo of above... never just assume its high amperage
